A Film Review By Clyde Ayles

WHERE IS SNOW WHITE?

Once upon a time there were great animated features that had great stories, great music,  and great artists that took hours, months, and even years to bring us magic that really lit up the movie screen. Walt Disney was the king. He and his wonderful staff gave us "Snow White" "Bambi" (my favorite)  "Pinocchio" and "Dumbo". All holding up through the passing of time. In other words, classics.  But that was B.C. (before computers). Today they put oot a computer generated image (C.G.I.) on film without a good story, memorable songs And just a bunch of cute animals bouncing around. Don't get me wrong, the little kids love it. But the earlier features also appealed to the grownups.                                                             Paramount pictures has now put upon us another poor C.G.I. animated picture made by Dreamworks.  "Over The Hedge"  tells the adventures of a group of friends that include R.J. the raccoon (voiced by BRUCE WILLIS), Verne the turtle (GARY SHANDLING), and Stella the skunk (WANDA SYKES), and other assorted friends who, after waking up from their winter hibernation,  find a huge hedge surrounding a group of houses where they know they can find food.  Thus starts their adventures with the humans in the houses, the pest control man, and a large bear that they robbed of his food.         All this has it's moments, but it is still the same tired animation.   I can think of only three films that i have liked.  "Toy Story", "The Incredibles" and of course  "Shrek".    This film goes in the same pile as "Hoodwinked" and "Doogal". Bad.      SEE YA AT THE MOVIES   Clyde
