A Film Review By Paul Perkins

Step Up and Dance

Music calms the savage beast that the old saying goes. Lately to get the kids to spend their parents money at the box office Hollywood as go to their heart. It is music and now just any music one of the most popular music of the new generation! It's called Hip Hop and it is an universal music no matter how old are you or the color of your skin hip hop music is the next big thing like Jazz, Country and the many other types of music. So Hollywood releases couple of music themes movie first was one of the best year film called, Take the Lead and the next one up to bat is called Step Up.

Tyler Gage (Channing Tatum) has grown up all his life on the rough streets of the city, and he knows he’s unlikely to ever make it out of there. However after a brush with the law lands Tyler with a community-service gig at the city’s Maryland School of the Arts, everything changes. That’s when he meets Nora (Jenna Dewan), the school’s prima ballerina, an alluring diva who is desperately searching for someone to replace her injured partner before the school’s all-important Senior Showcase. Spying Tyler’s moves, Nora can’t help but notice he’s got a raw but natural gift. She decides to take a chance on Tyler, but as they begin to train, the tension between them, and their polar-opposite backgrounds, skyrockets. The only thing standing between Tyler and the void are his dreams of making it off the streets — and the only thing standing in the way of Nora’s obviously brilliant future is the Senior Showcase. Now, with everything on the line, Tyler will have just one performance to prove to Nora, and to himself, that he can step up to a life far larger than he ever imagined.

On the radio the promote the soundtrack to this movie every min, so walking into this I thought I can't wait to hear this soundtrack. The music of the film was one of the best parts of the film it made the film much better then it actually was. The dance scenes were very good just as good as the dance scenes from the other dance film on the year called, Take the Lead. The acting was very good most by Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan who work great together and had good chemistry together.

The problem I had overall in the film was one of the sub stories it was so typical Hollywood it was so predictable and it been use so many times before. The film would have gotten a 4 1/2 Stars rating but because of the predictable of it it loses 1 star. Overall if you like film with a great music, good acting then this is the film for you. Even so I took a star away it still was a good film.
