A Film Review By Paul Perkins

O For Outstanding

What is a terrorist is it someone who destroys their own country or is it someone who destroy someone else country. That is one of the controversies behind one of the best films of the year so far this year.

Set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, V for Vendetta tells the story of a mild-mannered young woman named Evey (Natalie Portman) who is rescued from a life-and-death situation by a masked vigilante known only as “V.” Incomparably charismatic and ferociously skilled in the art of combat and deception, V ignites a revolution when he detonates two London landmarks and takes over the government-controlled airwaves, urging his fellow citizens to rise up against tyranny and oppression. As Evey uncovers the truth about V’s mysterious background, she also discovers the truth about herself – and emerges as his unlikely ally in the culmination of his plot to bring freedom and justice back to a society fraught with cruelty and corruption.

This year I have not given any film my top honors of 5 stars there has been some close ones 16 blocks, last Holiday. Well remember the day March 17, 2006 is the day that the first 5 star films have been given and it was given to V for Vendetta. Some film when you watch them you just get into them and are drawn to the story and everything else about the film.

The story is a mixture of action with some drama and some special effects and did I mention a lot of action. The action scenes was very good with some of the scenes reminded me of the Matrix films. The guys who made the Matrix films did this film as well so when you see the film you can tell their style. The story it was very good and by what I head on the radio talk show it making a lot of controversies because of the views of the film. This is a film I don’t know why people are causing so much problems about this film. The film is not about terrorist it about a guy who does not like the way his government it treating his people so he does the only thing he can do is to fight back. You can say he is like Robin Hood he steals from the rich and gives to the poor.

The acting was good by the two main stars Hugo Weaver and Natalie Portman they had good chemistry together. Even Natalie English accent was ok you could tell she not English but she did a good job of faking it. Hugo did an outstanding job as the villain/Hero you could tell he was the perfect choice for the role. The fight screens were great a lot of the fight screens his use daggers. There is a ton of Matrix style of fighting that did not get boring or drag out. Overall if you are looking for a good action films then look no farther than V for Vendetta this is worth every star I gave it.
