We Are Marshall
A Film Review By Clyde Ayles

THREE CHEERS
In 1970, Marshall University of Huntington, West Virginia lost most of it's football team, coaches and several commmunity leaders in a horrible plane crash. Then came Jack Lengyel (MATTHEW McCONAUGEY doing a pretty good job here) who agrees to take over and build a new team when no one else wanted the position. In the process he covinces Red Dawson, one of the coaches of the Thundering Herds who missed the flight and is living with guilt, to assist him. MATTHEW FOX of the t.v. hit "Lost" is Red. Also in the cast is DAVID STRATHAIM, a top rate actor who plays Marshall' president. You may think this is just another football movie, well you are right. But this is an emotional story of overcoming the odds. Mcconaugey comes through with an effective speech at the grave sites. The only draw back is you do not learn much about the original team. that would have been a nice tribute. Director McG (Charlie's Angels) does an ok job, but could have done better.
