A Film Review By Paul Perkins

A Real Summer Blockbuster

The latest big thing in Hollywood is bring big comic books to the big screen. We had Spiderman comes to the big screen, The Punisher also later next month we will have a  new superman. Next one up to bat is a little film called X-Men the Last Stand which is the third in the series and one of most talk about film among comic book fans.

In this new film there is a cure for the mutants and now for the first time, mutants have a choice: retain their uniqueness, though it isolates and alienates them, or give up their powers to fit in.  The opposing viewpoints of mutant leaders Charles Xavier, who preaches tolerance, and Eric Lehnsherr (Magneto), who believes in the survival of the fittest, are put to the ultimate test – triggering the war to end all wars.

Well first of all like I said in my previous reviews of the X-men films I never read any of the comics I was a Transformers kid which btw. The film is coming out next summer so you know I am thrilled about it coming to the big screen I will be first in line. Well I like the other two films they were fun so walking into this film I had some high hopes for it.

So when the film started I was on the edge of my seat thinking the film is started this is going to be a great film. Now after seeing it I can say it was good if I could rate it upon the other two films it would come out in third place. The story was pretty good I like the idea of the film and how each of the characters delta with the cure their own way.

I like all the new characters in the film and I like how some of the main characters who did not get a lot of screen time in got more time in this one.  Being we are talking about time the main problem I had with the film is the length.

The film is about 1 hr 40 mins which is very short for this type of film. This film should have been overt two hours because of all the new characters in the film. They did not give us any time with the new characters they could have developed them more so we could know more about them. The problem is all these characters in the film and no time to work them makes the film feel rushed. You could tell they rushed this film out instead of put a little more time in the film so everyone get more screen time.

Now on to the action there is a ton of great action scenes, the last 20 mins of the film is most of the action so and trust me you will not take your eyes of the screen. This is the type of film that you will keep your eyes glue to the screen from the opening titles to the ending credits. And speaking of end credits when the credit start to roll do not leave the theater as most people do stay in your seat and wait for a important scène to be shown at the end of the credits.

X-Men the Last Stand is everything you expect from a summer blockbuster action, special effects, good story and Halle Berry sorry I had to throw Halle in I’m a big fan. The only thing I wish that the film was a little longer. But overall do not miss this film check it out this holiday weekend instead of going to the shore go to the movies instead.
