A Film Review By Clyde Ayles

PURE FUN

Many of us have had a relative or friend that came to visit and never left. This is Dupree (played right on key by OWEN WILSON). Carl and Molly Petrson (MATT DILLON and KATE HUDSON) are newlyweds. Dupree was the best man. Carl and Molly move into a nice house, followed by Dupree who has lost his job and has no place to go. So he is invited to stay with the Petersons until he can get back on his feet. But, will this ever happen?             Dupree creates all kinds of problems, including setting the coutch on fire in a most unusual way in a very funny scene. And of course we have the familier toilet scenes, but some really work.  There is also a subplot dealing with Molly's father (MICHAEL DOUGLAS doing a great job). Daddy never approved of Carl marrying his little girl and let's him know it. The sad  thing is that he is also Carl's boss and undermines him at work any chance he can.                                      There are some very funny moments through out the film, including when Dupree rounds up the neighborhood kids to look for Carl when he is missing.                                                                Brothers ANTHONY and JOE RUSSO direct.   Go have some laughs.                                                        SEE YA AT THE MOVIES   CLYDE
