Well walking into a film that is helmed by Ridley Scott and has Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe you know you are in for a treat. Called them the three Amigos after seeing the trailer I couldn't wait to see this film. The film is called American Gangster.
Nobody used to notice Frank Lucas (Oscar® winner Washington), the quiet driver to one of the inner city's leading black crime bosses. But when his boss suddenly dies, Frank exploits the opening in the power structure to build his own empire and create his own version of the American Dream. Through ingenuity and a strict business ethic, he comes to rule the inner-city drug trade, flooding the streets with a purer product at a better price. Lucas outplays all of the leading crime syndicates and becomes not only one of the city's mainline corrupters, but part of its circle of legit civic superstars.
American Gangster was one of the films I been looking forward to see so walking into the theater I was so hyped I got my large popcorn and large drink, sat in my usually seat and got ready for this motion picture.
So after seeing about 900 previews and commercials the film started. I prayed for no cell phone to go off as it usually does in a movie theater, Thank god there was no babies in the theater so the film started. I was glued to the screen the film was about 2 hr 40 mins 3 hours with all the previews.
Walking out of the theater what can I say about the film? The film was good not best of the year but very good performance from Denzel and Directing from Ridley. Russell was ok but not a great performance I thought he were been better in this film with all the star power and he usually is very good in these types of film he was a little disappointing.
The story was good this is base on a real story and usually during this time of year you see a lot of films that is base on a real story as well as film clocking in around 3 hours. The story was good but it could been better is Russell did a better job in his role Denzel stole the show and carried it through.
Overall American Gangster was a good film but it could be a lot better if one of main actor did a better job. If you are a fan of Ridley or Denzel check this film out.
