Juno
A Film Review By Brian
Gall
A HIGH SCHOOL
STORY
No high school experience can be complete without a
classmate or two getting pregnant. This is what happens to Juno, (Ellen
Page) who while experimenting with Bleeker (Michael Cera) gets "knocked up".
At first she doesn't believe that she is pregnant.
She annoys the clerk at a drugstore (Rainn Wilson). After the pregnancy is
comfirmed, she tells her parents JK Simmons, Allison Janey, and then she
works with her friend Leah (Olivia Thirby) to find a suitable couple via of
the PENNYSAVER.
This is then completed and then we see how the whole
thing progresses.
I like the film JUNO. I think Ellen Page, who I
thought was fantastic in HARD CANDY, should take home an OSCAR. Michael Cera,
who played the boyfriend is a drip, who I wonder has anything left in him at
such a young age.
Olivia Thirby, other people say that her performance
is great, is average by my standards. The performances that I truely enjoyed
besides Pages were JK SIMMONS, Rainn Wilson, and Jason Bateman, whose career
did a 360. Jennifer Garner overacted, and I really didn't care so much for
Alison Janney. Her performances are always the same.
This year we have 2 films that deal with unexpected
pregnancies. Just imagine if they could have worked together. This one,
compared to KNOCKED UP is far superior.
All in all, I recommend this film. As a critical
rating I am giving JUNO 3 stars. I am glad that this film is now showing
nationwide. I am tired of seeing the trailers and never seeing the films.
