The Autobots are the protagonists in the Transformers Universe, a
collection of various toys, graphic novels, paperback books,
cartoons and movies first introduced in 1984. In all Transformer
continuities, the Autobots are the "good guys," "Heroic Autobots"
fighting the "Evil Decepticons", who are the antagonists of
the various series.

Optimus Prime
Optimus Prime will be present as
Autobot leader. Prime now transforms into a conventional
Peterbilt cab (akin to his Laser Rod incarnation), rather
than cab over design of his original Generation 1 body. In a
move that has proven rather controversial among some fans,
Prime's vehicle mode is now decorated with red flames (a la
Rodimus Prime, his successor) painted onto a blue body,
apparently as a means of incorporating both his classic
colors while retaining a realistic color layout to the truck
mode. Early photos show that Optimus will be able to
transform his right arm into a megacannon.
Bumblebee will be appearing in the
live-action Transformers movie in 2007, returning to
his role as the friend of the Autobots' human ally - in this
case, Sam Witwicky. When the Decepticons target Sam for the
map he possess that shows the location of the life-giving
Allspark, Bumblebee is assigned to guard Sam and gets closer
to him by posing as a used car which Sam then buys. Recent
trailer footage shows him being attacked and subdued by a
group of humans, who seem to be operatives of Sector 7.

Jazz
Jazz is
described as having a love of style, with a rock-'n-roll
type of personality—not unlike his G1 persona. Also adding
to his G1 image is him retaining his visor as well as his
front-chassis chest. According to Jalopnik, Jazz's alternate
mode will be a silver/gray customized hardtop Pontiac
Solstice, similar to the weekend racer concept car. This has
been confirmed by several leaked photos. Jazz's weapons
include a sword and shield, as well as a shoulder-mounted
Gatling machine gun.

Ironhide
He is
replacing Arcee in the cast list. His original voice actor,
Peter Cullen is voicing Optimus Prime but Ironhide will be
voiced by Jess Harnell in the film. Ironhide is described as
being Prime's oldest friend and the weapons specialist of
the team. He has some classic cowboy characteristics and is
always ready for battle. According to the tech specs of his
toy, he was built during the Battle of Tyger Pax, and is the
oldest Autobot in the film. The design specs of the movie
show that Ironhide will have an energy cannon mounted on his
left forearm and a missle launcher on his right forearm.
He's also the bulkiest and the largest of the Autobots.

Introduced in 1984, the
Transformers brand took the world by storm with its
compelling saga of the Autobots versus the Decepticons. The
innovative "Robots in Disguise" resulted in a tremendously
successful
toy
line from Hasbro and Takara, comic book series, television
program and an animated feature film. More than 20 years
later, a new generation has discovered the excitement of the
Transformers brand and its legendary characters, including
the two leaders of the opposing sides: Optimus Prime and
Megatron. Today, the franchise features a popular toy line,
an animated series on the Cartoon Network and a
chart-topping comic book series from IDW Publishing.
