The Women Review By Paul
Perkins A Bore Feast With A Big Cast
First off I know this film is a
chick flicks film and I am not a chick, but after my divorced I have
been likening chick flicks films but this film was a total bore. before
I go into details here is some info about the film. Set in New York
City's modern whirl of fashion and publishing, "The Women" tells the
story of Mary Haines (Meg Ryan), a clothing designer who seems to have
it all - a beautiful country home, a rich financier husband, an adorable
11-year-old daughter and a part-time career creating designs for her
father's venerable clothing company.
Her best friend, Sylvie Fowler (Annette
Bening), leads another enviable life - a happily single editor of a
prominent fashion magazine, a possessor of a huge closet of designer
clothes and a revered arbiter of taste and style poised on New York's
cutting edge. But when Mary's husband enters into an affair with Crystal
Allen (Eva Mendes), a sultry 'spritzer girl' lurking behind the Saks
Fifth Avenue perfume counter, all hell breaks loose.
The problem with the film is the story there is none
granted you know Meg Ryan character is getting cheated on and you don't
care because the film makes you don't care. The film drag so much and
you wonder when something is going to happen and it take so long for it
do finally does. This film is kind of like Waiting to Exhale film but
Waiting was a much better film.
To give you an example in one scene Annette bening
character is telling Meg Ryan character daughter about the facts of life
and when her first time was. See said she remember it was painful and he
had star wars bed sheets. how would he had star wars bed sheets the film
came out in late 70's. Annette character is the middle 50's so that
would make her in 30 something. I called that bad script writing and the
Eva Mendes character was nothing new of course she look the hottest like
she does in all her films but she did not do a great job in the acting.
Just like Righteous Kill this week these two films
does not know how to handle big name stars it quite a shame because they
both could have been great motion picture but at least Righteous Kill
was better than this horrible film.
