A Film Review By Paul Perkins

Need To Know The Comic Book Before Seeing The Movie

We Lately the new thing in Hollywood is comic and superhero movies they have made a ton at the box office last year we have two big names at  the box office The Dark Knight and Iron Man which was some great motion pictures they ended up on my top ten for 2009. So this year there is a new crop of superhero movie that is trying to get some of the big money that can be made from these types of films.

The next one up is called Watchmen which is post to be the greatest comic book of all time as I told it a 12 part comic the film is about It all begins with the paranoid delusions of a half-insane hero called Rorschach. But is Rorschach really insane or has he in fact uncovered a plot to murder super-heroes and, even worse, millions of innocent civilians? On the run from the law, Rorschach reunites with his former teammates in a desperate attempt to save the world and their lives, but what they uncover will shock them to their very core and change the face of the planet! Following two generations of masked superheroes from the close of World War II to the icy shadow of the Cold War comes this groundbreaking comic story - the story of The Watchmen.

This film is not better than Dark Knight or Iron Man but it was a good film don't get me wrong. With those film you don't have to read any comics to understand the film. In Watchmen you have to know something about the comic to understanding the meaning of the film.

Call me stupid sometimes during the film I was a little lost did not know what the film was about.

I don't blame the writer I blame the Director the Director should told us the back story a little better for us people who have never heard of the comic and walking into this film blind.

Beside the bad point and one more bad point there is a lot of male nudity which I wish they cut out did we need to see the blue superhero naked all the time. For us guys the main female in the film does have a great nude scene thank god it makes up for the other thing.

Now let get on to the movie itself first up the story. It did get be a little confused  which in film a very hard thing to do to me. I see a lot of film each year and understanding every film I see is a art form. Second is the acting which is a big part of the film I thought the acting was good but the charters was ok. Meaning the people who played them was good it just you can't feel for any of the characters and route for them.  Third the film was very brutal there is a lot of killing and blood and gore which was a surprise to see in a comic book film but remember this was made from the same people who did the film 300 and we all know how brutal that film was. The cgi was ok nothing outstanding.

The film was about 2 hr and 45 mins long which was a tad bit long they could have cut a little off the film and still said it point.

Overall Watchmen was a good comic book movie but not the best one before checking out the film read the comic book first so you have a idea of the story and the meaning of the film. Then check it out in theaters or in Imax Theaters.
