A Outstanding and Unique
Film, This Is Filmmaking at Its Best
Well this is a new year with a ton of films coming out over the next 12
Months, and what a way to start off January? This is a film that is
so good you will talk about it all year. Walking
out of the theater I was blown away, I really like This Film. You may heard of this film from something we like to call
the Internet.
On the eve of his departure for Japan,
Rob (Michael Stahl-David) sees his going-away party as an opportunity to
confess unresolved feelings and tie up loose ends.
His agenda takes an unexpected turn when a jolt shakes the revelers. The
crowd quiets down to watch news reports of an earthquake, then rushes to the
roof to assess the damage. A fireball explodes on the distant horizon. A
power failure follows. Confusion gives way to panic as the partygoers
stumble through the blackout and into the streets.
Amid the human screams and one inhuman roar, Rob and his friends must
traverse a landscape that has changed overtaken by something otherworldly,
terrifying, monstrous.
Well what can I say about this film? This is one non-stop, intense, funny
movie and overall it's just a great time at the theater. This film was made a different style than most
Hollywood films are made Usually the film is made with the director filming
the movie. Cloverfield is made by the actors camera meaning they are filming
it as it happens just like it would be if the film was live so the whole
movie is shot on a digital camera. The only drawback to this if you get
motion sick from a camera that moves non stop and I do mean non stop, mostly
doing it when the thing attacks the city. then you will get sick in this
movie. But it is worth getting sick trust me.
The acting was pretty good. I though The acting was going to be so bad but I
was wrong. There is also some nice eye candy in this film which is always a
nice touch. There are some gory scenes in the film but not a lot since
this it PG-13. The stuff that made this movie great is the special effects
which were outstanding like how they made the creature look so breathtaking.
After you watch this film, If anyone asks you what the monster looks like.
Do not give away let
them be surprise like I was. The other thing that made this film unique
is the way it was shot if. It was made the regular way of filmmaking it would
be like every other monster movie but thank god the director had other
plans.
For old school video games players this film reminded me of a classic game
called Rampage.
Hats go off to the director for putting together a great film and showing us
with the right script and the right actors Hollywood can still make some
great unique films if they look at the film, not the budget of the film. So
go to the theater buy a big popcorn and big soda like one of our critics
here at The King's Room, get your favorite seat, sit back and get ready for a
experience unlike no other get, ready for Cloverfield.
