Hancock

A Film Review By Paul Perkins

Not Your Typical Superhero Movie. A Superhero That Needs A Shrink.

When you think of a superhero? You think of a man or women in a special suit flying through the air and helping people who need help. Of course the hero is kind and nice and love to help people and his or her look is very important to them.  Remember some superheroes was human at one point of their life so what if they has some inner problems that usually is associated with human being, like problems with drinking and using bad words.

So what if people hate the superhero instead of loving him or her well that time is among us meet Hancock. There are heroes... there are superheroes... and then there's Hancock (Will Smith). With great power comes great responsibility - everyone knows that - everyone, that is, but Hancock. Edgy, conflicted, sarcastic, and misunderstood, Hancock's well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake. The public has finally had enough - as grateful as they are to have their local hero, the good citizens of Los Angeles are wondering what they ever did to deserve this guy. Hancock isn't the kind of man who cares what other people think - until the day that he saves the life of PR executive Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), and the sardonic superhero begins to realize that he may have a vulnerable side after all.

Well I enjoyed Hancock it was a great movie. This is not you typical superhero movie like some of the others that came out in the past like Xmen, Superman and Iron Man. This is more a comedy superhero movie with a meaning, and a big question that ask What if a superhero has problems that affect humans? Well it's the big holiday called 4th of July for us Americans and there is only movie opening this week and  to make the weekend start with a bang. We have the king of the 4th july weekend  Will Smith releasing  a movie on his weekend which you know it going to be a hit as well as good.

Hancock had some very funny laughs. this film has two story one is the main superhero movie story and the other Hancock has some very serious inner problems that he has to deal with. There is not a shrink in the world that can help someone who could lift a car and use it as a baseball bat. Some of the review for Hancock has not been good, well this one is a very positive one I thought the film was great I like the idea of the film and how the director told the story. Granted he could have told the back story of Hancock a little better and did not cut out as much as he did to get a pg-13 rateing.

The Director Peter Berg has become a great director his last film was outstanding as well and it was on my top ten for the year called The Kingdom. This film was not a long movie it about 92 mins and it did not drag at all. I was surprise how short it was I thought it would be a longer movie. The supporting cast was very good in their roles. Jason Bateman was funny in this role, Charlize Theron was good in her role as well as look breathtaking as she usually does.
If you could I would not watch the movie trailer before seeing the film it does give away some key plots points and some of the surprises of the film. But if you do you will still enjoy this film as I did. With all the big summer film that came out this year so far this is one film you don't want to miss check it out today.
