The Love Guru

A Film Review By Paul Perkins

Had Some Funny Moments But Could Have Been a Lot Better

This week is comedy week there is two films that have comed out that are comedy. Get Smart which was a very funny film and this film called The Love Guru. Which has some very funny stuff in it but has some bad stuff in it will tell you about it in a min.

For Pitka (Mike Myers) is an American who was left at the gates of an ashram in India as a child and raised by gurus. He moves back to the U.S. to seek fame and fortune in the world of self-help and spirituality. His unorthodox methods are put to the test when he must settle a rift between Toronto Maple Leafs star hockey player Darren Roanoke (Romany Malco) and his estranged wife. After the split, Roanoke's wife starts dating L.A. Kings star Jacques Grande (Justin Timberlake) out of revenge, sending her husband into a major professional skid -- to the horror of the teams' owner Jane Bullard (Jessica Alba) and Coach Cherkov (Verne Troyer). Pitka must return the couple to marital nirvana and get Roanoke back on his game so the team can break the 40-year-old "Bullard Curse" and win the Stanley Cup.

The Love Guru was a watchable film that had some good laugh and some dull laughs. The problem is in some screens they tried to hard to make the audience laughs and it show in the film. This film was a  little bit disapointing I was expecting a much better film from Mike Myers and Mini Me.

Of course there is some nice eye candy from Jessica Alba and Megan Good they look there best in this film. I can count about 3 or 4 very funny screens that had me in stitches. The film had some great musical numbers which kind of make fun of Indian Bollywood films. Which I heard that this film is getting a lot of heat from Indian.

The film was just under 90 mins long which was the right length if it was any longer it would have gotten a lower rating. Overall The Love Guru was a watchable film but could have been a lot better.
