The Strangers

A Film Review By Paul Perkins

A Good Reason To Never Open The Door To Strangers

You know you are in for a good thriller when in the beginning of the film the narrator tells the history of the story, and you get goose bumps. When he is finished telling the history of the film I had goosed bumps.
The film is called The Strangers and if this film teaches us anything is never answering the door for strangers. The horrifying events that took place in the Hoyt family's holiday home at 1801 Clark Road on February 11, 2005, are still not entirely known.

Champagne. Rose petals. Candlelight. It was supposed to be a night of celebration for Kristen McKay (Liv Tyler) and James Hoyt (Scott Speedman). However, after leaving a friend's wedding reception and returning to the house, everything had collapsed for the happy couple. Then came a 4 a.m. knock on the door and a haunting voice. Is Tamara here?

This film is based on actually events which makes the film even scarier.
This summer so far been one hit after another with some of the biggest already came out Indian Jones ,Iron Man and this week in Sex in the City so when I small film comes out I always wish it will do well at the box office it is too soon to see if it does.

The film is not your typical scary film it is more a thriller with the old fashioned way of scary you with noise and sound. This film has a ton of that, and it makes for a very intense and jumps out of your seat thriller. The film kind of reminded me of an other film that came out this year called Funny Games but this film was a good one, I did not like Funny Games because it ending so badly.

The acting was pretty good it really doesn't have too many actors there is the house owner, the three villains which is the main players of the film. Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman was a good choice for the roles you feel for them, and you hope for they to survive this horrid event that is happening to them. When an actor and actress makes you feel for them then you know they are doing their job correctly sometimes actor does a horrible job and you couldn't care less for them.

The film had the right mixer of sound scares and noise scares which makes for a very creepy film. The film was not long, and it did not drag out the thrills. This if a film that the whole audience will get into the film and you can expect they will jump and scream together. Therefore, if you are on a date this is the perfect date film because you partner will be in your lap most of the time holding on to you for his or her life. Overall The Strangers was a very intense motion picture that you do not want to miss.
