![]() A Film Review By Paul Perkins A Funny Comedy Within A Comedy
Well this has been a great year for comedy film and what a way to end the long summer with a bang. With this summer being rule by a man in a black suit it nice to some other film try to get some of Dark Knight Money. This film in question is called Tropic Thunder and it has some bad press behind it because of some the story line.
In rhis action-comedy "Tropic Thunder," Ben Stiller plays pampered action superstar Tugg Speedman, who is cast in the biggest, most expensive war movie ever produced. He sets out to Southeast Asia with a "Who's Who" of celebrity co-stars. They include Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr.), an intense, three-time Oscar-winning actor; Jeff Portnoy (Jack Black), star of the popular gross-out comedy franchise "The Fatties"; multi-platinum hiphop-star-turned-entrepreneur-turned-actor Alpa Chino (Brandon T. Jackson); and first-timer Kevin Sandusky (Jay Baruchel). Soon after the production begins the actors are thrown into a real-life situation and are forced to become the fighting unit they're portraying, in order to find a way out of the jungle in one piece.
Tropic Thunder was one hell of a funny movie I could not stop laughing thought out this film I have seen this film two times as I write this review and even the second time I laugh as much as I did the first time I saw it. The story was very good I like the idea of the film how they are actor filming a movie and don't realized they are in a real life sudation.
The actor did a great job in the film with all the comedy talent in this film you know you are in for a comedic treat and they do not disappoint. The main actor that stood out was Robert Downey Jr he was the funniest of the group and he had one of the funniest lines in the film with Brandon Jackson. Ben Still and Jack Black is right behind them with some funny lines.
The opening screens was a very funny part and caught everyone off guard and in the two times I seen the film the audience seems to really like the beginning of the film. The film was about 1 hr 45 mins and it did not drag at all it keep it pace from start to finish. This film lately has gotten a lot of bad press because of one of the scenes. I wish people will remember it only a movie people. You would think the one of the beginning screen would cause more problems then what the people are complaining about.
Overall if you are looking for a film to make your self laugh and have a good time at the movie theater than look no further than Tropic Thunder. It is one of the best comedies of the year by far. (c) 2008 Paul Perkins |
